Courtesan Toyooka form the Okamoto house

Gosotei Toyokuniga GoGoGoGoGoGoGoseries with popular courtesans and the hundred poets. The title alludes to the collection of poems, “Hyakunin isshu Der 様 Der 様,” in which a hundred poets are represented with one poem each. Particularly popular in connection with this collection of poems was a game of the same name. The courtesan Toyooka from the Okamotoya sits on a cushion (zabuton) and reads in a book. Next to her a coal basin (hibachi) in which two iron quills are stuck (for moving the coal). The base of the coal basin is in the shape of a lion’s foot with head. Pleasant hair ornament. Striped obi with bottle cushions. In the cartouche of priests KIn In In In In In (one of the six best waka-poets = rokkasen 様様), the eighth in the collection of poems.
