During February-March 2004 two trial excavations were conducted at Horbat Gilan (South; Permit No. A-4105*; map ref. NIG 20325-70/70983-1013; OIG 15325-70/20983-1013), prior to the paving of a section of Highway 6. The excavation, on behalf of the Antiquities Authority, was directed by S. Mahajna, with the assistance of V. Essman (surveying and drafting), T. Sagiv (photography), Y. Nagar (physical anthropology), L. Yihye-Levy (GPS), R. Gat (pottery restoration), M. Shuiskaya-Arnov (drawing) and L. Kupershmidt (metallurgical laboratory).
