NUMBER SYMBOLISM IN THE KHAKASS AND TUVINIAN LANGUAGES (BY THE MATERIAL OF FOLKLORIC TEXTS)

The article examines the numbers frequently used in the Khakass and Tuvinian folklore. Special attention is paid to numbers with ethno-cultural semantics that represent peculiarities of national mentality. By the example of the Khakass and Tuvinian folkloric texts, the author analyses the numbers most frequent in the folklore language. Common and peculiar features of number symbollism in the Khakass and Tuvinian languages are identified. The research findings can be used when lecturing on the Khakass and Tuvinian linguistics, compiling textbooks and dictionaries and conducting comparative typological studies.
