Memorandum SANU – Artikulisane ideje srpskog nacionalizma

View through CrossRef
The Memorandum of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts was created in 1986 and was undoubtedly a political, national and Serbian great-state platform for the wars waged by Slobodan Milošević. The creators of the Memorandum, which caused the collapse of Yugoslavia, are: Dobrica Ćosić, president of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Pavle Ivić, Antonije Isaković, president of the committee for drafting documents and members of the academy. Although Dobrica Ćosić was at the head of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the authors of the Memorandum are Mihajlo Marković and Kosta Mihajlović, which is the initial act that practically began the drama of the Yugoslav peoples with terrible deaths, unimaginable crimes, unprecedented suffering of civilians (elderly people, women and children), sieges and destruction of cities, and persecutions, evictions and displacement of entire regions, concentration camps, rapes, demolition of cultural, religious and educational facilities, destruction of property and all other goods, burning of entire cities, villages, forests, mass killings and genocide. This Memorandum, in its content, does not deviate at all from the already well-known Greater Serbia programs called: “Načertanije”, “Serbs all and everywhere” and “Homogeneous Serbia”, except that it is only modernized and adapted to the times. This is the reason why the borders of Serbia are not in accordance with the ethnic composition and they must be redrawn, because according to the Memorandum, the 1974 Constitution caused a lot of damage to Serbia due to the creation of the autonomous provinces of Vojvodina and Kosovo, the dilution of the federation, as well as due to “artificial” administrative borders that do not represent the “real” picture. The Memorandum states that the Serbian people within the SFRY are threatened by other peoples, assimilation, exploitation, expulsion and marginalization in the political, cultural and scientific spheres. In this document, academics concluded that anti-Serbian forces within the SFRY (Croats and Albanians) are strengthening, and that there is a need for rapid action to prevent the collapse of Serbia and the Serbian people. In some preambles of the Hague indictments, the Memorandum, as the most polemical, controversial and shameful document in recent Serbian history, is mentioned as a conceptual project that led to wars in the former territories of Yugoslavia and helped launch the political career of Slobodan Milošević and his nationalist authoritarian rule. The roots of these myths were most widely used and were disastrous not only for non-Serb people, but also for the Serbian people themselves, as was demonstrated in the wars from 1991 to 1999. No matter how much this has been described and published in the press so far, written in historical documents about Serbian nationalism, and the frequent mention of the alleged threat to the Serbian people, it must also be found in this book for the sake of remembering and not forgetting.

Title: Memorandum SANU – Artikulisane ideje srpskog nacionalizma
