Avise la fin | Consider the end

I moved to Serbia in September 2018. I have come to Belgrade to study here for an academic year, as part of my studies at the Slavonic and Eastern European studies department in UCL, London. I'm half-Irish, half-Russian. My father is Irish, my mother Russian. I grew up mostly in Moscow with some studies in other cities in Europe. This is definitely the best representation of my family history. The original of this ring was passed on by my great-grandmother, who was a Kennedy, to my grandfather. Her brother was Hugh Kennedy, who was also one of the constitutional architects of the Irish Free State (one of the Constitution Twelve). He was a legal adviser to Michael Collins and also the first Attorney General of the Irish Free State. This ring, despite my mixed background, connects me strongly to my Irish roots, heritage and history. The motto on the ring is ‘Avise la fin’ which means ‘consider the end’. I definitely try to apply it to my everyday life and my work!
