Icon on glass by Savu Moga: “Peace- Military Saints,” Olt Country, Upper Arpas, Savu Moga, 1884 Savu Moga is considered the most special icons from Fagarau Land. He was born in the county. The excavation, and in 1843 it is established in the Upper Arpasu from the county. Sibiu where he painted icons on glass. Savu Moga was a brilliant narrator. The meticulous drawing, the multitude of the characters and the border with cruciform motifs and arabesques, inscribes the author among the most famous icons on glass. In the picture we appear one of the most famous icons of Savu Moga, namely the feast. The icon space is divided into five boxes (two up and three down) separated by columns with geometric motifs (chain rhombuses) and capitals with acanthus leaves. The chenars are different: the vertical ones have rhombuses and crosses, the horizontal ones chromatically alternated triangles. In the upper part are placed the saints Gheorghe and Teodor Tiron, willing to ride, affront, killing whales. In the lower part, in the center, Saint Dimitrie kills a soldier. He is framed by the saints Pantelimon and Tifon. One of the characteristics of Savu Moga’s icons is the white funds probably for the highlight of the characters.
