refers to a community's understanding of its shared past. Journalism is a key source of raw materials for generating collective memory and contributes to the evolution of collective memory by narrating and re‐narrating the past in different social contexts. Journalism uses collective memory as a storytelling tool for making sense of contemporary events and as a means for understanding itself as a profession.
