Ostatni igumen Starego Wałaamu o. Chariton (Dunajew) – kontynuator modlitewnej tradycji dawnej Rusi w Finlandii

The article describes the figure of Father Chariton (Dunayev), who was the last igumen of the Valaam Monastery. Igumen Chariton was a continuator of the thought of Father Nazarity and the author of the collection On the Jesus Prayer, which is called Small Dobrotolubye. The elder Chariton draws attention in his work to the first stage of human transformation that is practice, with the main goal being to overcome passions and gain control over one’s thoughts and heart. He emphasises that the Jesus Prayer, which is the foundation of religious life, is an excellent tool in the fight against impure thoughts.
