RADOSLAV ROTKOVIĆ AS A HISTORIAN OF LITERATURE

This article gives an overview of Radoslav Rotković’s work in the area of history of literature. Radoslav Rotković is an extremely important figure in Montenegrin science and culture, present for more than sixty years as an author in several disciplines: literary criticism, history of literature, history and linguistics. Apart from that, Rotković is also a significant writer. In his works from the area of history of literature he mainly dealt with older, unexplored periods of Montenegrin literature – Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, and Enlightenment. His work on discovering and collecting works of old writers is also of great importance. He is also the author of monographs on Stefan Mitrov Ljubiša, ecclesiastical drama in Boka Kotorska, as well as the first review of Montenegrin literature. His approach is characterized by a comprehensive insight into socio-political circumstances of an epoch, as well as by precise analyses of texts and sharp observa-tions on writers and their works
