Memórias enquadradas: Abigail de Andrade e Georgina de Albuquerque

O artigo analisa a trajetória de duas artistas cariocas, privilegiando o período após o início da República, cuja novidade era permitir às mulheres estudar artes. Trata-se de pesquisa explora- tória e documental, que analisa notícias dos jornais de 1882 a 1929, consultados na Hemeroteca Digital da Fundação Biblioteca Nacional. O objetivo não é aprisionar as mulheres nas representações usuais do amadorismo ou arte feminina, mas situar obra e artistas na estrutura do tempo, compreender as memórias construídaspara as artistas e identificar que estratégias elas utilizaram para ser reconhecidas no período. Georgina logra certo êxito em firmar posição no campo por seguir algumas convenções do mundo da arte, bem como por respeitar a divisão de papéis por gênero de que nos fala a etnopsicologia das emoções euroamericana. Concluímos que a academia brasileira pouco se debruçou sobre a obra dessas artistas pioneiras da Primeira Onda Feminista, e a pesquisa documental em jornais parece ser um profícuo caminho para resgatar mulheres artistas que apareceram no desenvolvimento da pesquisa, cujas contribuições não são facilmente determinadas, demandando novas investigações. AbstractThe article analyzes the trajectory of two artists from Rio, focusing on the period after the beginning of the Republic, whose novelty was allowing women to study arts. This is an exploratory and documentary research, which analyzes newspapers from 1882 to 1929 consulted on Hemeroteca Digital da Fundação Biblioteca Nacional. The objective is not to imprison women in the usual representations of amateurism or feminine art, but to place work and artists in the structure of time, to understand the memories constructed for the artists and what strategies they used to be recognized during the period. Georgina is somewhat successful in establishing a position in the field by following some conventions of the art world, as well as by respecting the division of roles by gender that the Euro-American ethnopsychology of emotions tells us about. We conclude that the Brazilian academy has little attention to the work of these pioneering artists of the First Feminist Wave and documentary research in newspapers seems to be a fruitful way to rescue women artists who appeared during the research, whose contributions are difficult to pinpoint and requirefurther ones.
