Understanding Streeroga through Rachana Sharir : A Conceptual Study

View through CrossRef
Streeroga, as a discipline, covers far more than a list of gynecological diagnoses. At its heart, it is concerned with understanding why disturbances in women’s health arise and that understanding begins with structure. Rachana Sharir, Ayurveda’s approach to the anatomical organization of the body, provides exactly that foundation. Without knowing how the female reproductive system is built and how its components relate to one another, it becomes difficult to make sense of what goes wrong when disease develops. This study starts from that premise. Rather than approaching Streeroga purely through its clinical presentations, it looks at those presentations through the lens of Rachana Sharir — asking what the anatomy tells us about the pathogenesis, and how structural integrity shapes the physiological processes that depend on it. The classical Ayurvedic descriptions of Garbhashaya, Yoni, and Artavavaha Srotas form the core of this exploration. These aren’t just anatomical entries in an old text. They represent a carefully observed understanding of how the reproductive system is organized and how disruptions within it — often subtle ones — give rise to the conditions women present with clinically. What becomes apparent, when we look closely, is that most gynecological disorders don’t begin with dramatic pathological events. They tend to grow from small, gradual shifts in anatomical and functional harmony that accumulate over time. Reading Streeroga through Rachana Sharir, then, offers something that a purely symptom-focused approach cannot: a deeper picture of how disease actually develops, and a more grounded basis for both management and prevention
Title: Understanding Streeroga through Rachana Sharir : A Conceptual Study
Description:
Reading Streeroga through Rachana Sharir, then, offers something that a purely symptom-focused approach cannot: a deeper picture of how disease actually develops, and a more grounded basis for both management and prevention.
