I Chińczykom gramatyka problemy sprawia, czyli o wyzwaniach składniowych (i nie tylko) chińskojęzycznych uczących się języka polskiego jako obcego

The article concerns the issue of certain difficulties of Chinese-speaking learners in Polish grammar. It describes a multi-stage and methodologically diverse research, which had the following goals: to confront the opinions of Chinese learners about “difficult places” in Polish grammar with the repertoire of common mistakes made by these students, to check the level of awareness of Chinese students as to the impact of knowing the grammatical subsystem on the readiness to undertake and the ability to effectively perform language activities, and to make an attempt to verify the assumption that the relatively flexible Polish syntax is one of the greatest challenges for the Chinese – due to the positional character of the Chinese language. It has been proven that introducing syntactic changes that disrupt the most typical order of the individual components of a utterance, lead to grammatical errors and disorders in understanding of written texts observed among Chinese learners – even if they have a good knowledge of the required grammatical structures and lexis.
