THE EFFECT OF THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA AMONG STUDENTS OF PONDOK HIDAYATUL MUBTADI-IEN STUDENTS

The internet is one of the outputs of the development of coverage technology which has a double effect on society. Because in addition to having a positive effect, it also harms individual development. So that it demands that each individual must have specific competencies known as media literacy, namely the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and construct messages in various forms. To be able to achieve aphorism's media literacy skills, it is necessary to review the factors that influence it. According to the European Commission, 2009 to measure the level of media literacy can use the Individual Competence Framework. For this reason, this study investigates whether Technical skills, Critical Understanding & Communicative abilities affect internet media literacy among students at the Hidayatul Mubtadi-in Islamic Boarding School. The target of this research is 30 sentry respondents at the Hidayatul Mubtadi-in Islamic Boarding School. This type of research is quantitative explanatory. The data analysis technique uses multiple regression, and hypothesis testing uses the F Test & T-Test. The contribution of the effect of individual competencies on media literacy skills among students is 25.7 n, the remaining 74.3% is determined by other factors contained in this study. Internet media literacy among students is influenced by the Communicative Abilities factor as a result, the third hypothesis is proven (rejected). While media literacy among students is determined by the Technical skills & Critical Understanding factor as a result the first & second hypotheses are proven (accepted). Furthermore, the internet media literacy ability among students is determined by their Technical skills, Critical Understanding & Communicative abilities factors as a result the fourth hypothesis is proven (accepted).
