Military Herpetology
View through CrossRef
This chapter provides an overview of military herpetology at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. It explains how military installations had the most species and the highest densities of species being captured. Work on the military base includes developing best management practices documents for mission-sensitive species of herpetofauna and developing partnerships related to herpetofauna on military lands. The chapter then looks into the process of drafting a strategic plan for the entire Department of Defense for the conservation and management of amphibians and reptiles. Regardless of the years of delays, intervals of nonoccurrence, and endless reviews, the Department of Defense Strategic Plan for Amphibians and Reptiles was finalized in 2015.
