Max Aub et les paysages de Djelfa

Entre novembre 1941 et mai 1942, le poète espagnol Max Aub fut interné cinq mois et demi dans un camp français à Djelfa (Algérie), période durant laquelle il écrivit une centaine de poèmes, dont 47 sont rassemblés dans le recueil Journal de Djelfa. Loin de la réalité environnante, les paysages évoqués dans les poèmes sont affectés par la paratopie du désert, qui conduit le poète à recourir à une énonciation prophétique. D’un autre côté, sous une forme apparemment paradoxale mais habituelle dans la littérature de l’exil, un phénomène paramnésique de « double vision » produit des mirages qui inversent les topos de l’Afrique et de l’Espagne : ce que Max Aub « voit » dans la steppe algérienne, c’est l’Espagne.
