Porträt Friedrich Schneider (1786-1853)

View through Europeana Collections
Portrait of Friedrich Schneider. The composer is shown here as a frontal chest. His gaze is stapled on the left leaf margin. He wears a coat with fur on his collar, on his white vest underneath he attached a chain to a button, perhaps a pocket watch. He shows himself here with short hair. His facsimile signature can be seen under the portrait. Friedrich Schneider studied in Leipzig and took over some offices there, such as the management of the Singder Academy. He was also an organist at Thomaskirche. In 1820 he was used as dual-Anhalt-Dessauischer Hofkapellmeister. Born in Magdeburg, the painter Carl Siege (1784-1845) created the template for this lithography. It was then executed by the German engraver Friedrich Oldermann (1802-1874). The paper was probably printed by the Lithographic Institute of the Artist and Publisher Louis Friedrich Sachse (1798-1877). Signature: C. Victory del. Lith. Inst. by L. Sachse & Co. Oldermann lith.
