Revitalization of urban spaces with disturbed territories: methodological aspects of design

View through CrossRef
The development of modern Ukrainian cities, both large and small, suffers from a number of environmental problems that pose a threat to both the current and future functioning of their territories and require the implementation of projects for their restoration. Every year, the area of urban landscapes disturbed by the activities of industrial and construction enterprises increases, and natural processes cannot cope with the negative consequences. The article analyzes the theoretical and practical experience of revitalizing urban spaces with disturbed territories. The importance of an integrated approach to the revitalization of urban spaces with disturbed territories is shown. The stages of developing design solutions for the reproduction of the urban planning function of disturbed territories are formulated: preparatory (design and search) stage; ecological rehabilitation (remediation) stage; technical reclamation stage; biological reclamation stage; architectural and planning stage. Disturbed territories are territories that have lost their economic and ecological value due to soil cover disturbance as a result of human production activities or the action of natural phenomena. The formation and development of the disturbed urban environment occurs according to certain laws related to: functional and planning features of the urban structure, visual and aesthetic parameters of the urban space, environmental and socio-economic characteristics of the urban environment. The methodological principles of the process of forming design solutions for the restoration of urban spaces with disturbed territories based on an integrated approach to revitalization are considered. Ecological and rehabilitation, technical, biological, urban planning, architectural and planning measures for the revitalization of disturbed territories are proposed. The features of the formation of architectural and planning solutions for the revitalization of urban spaces with disturbed territories are presented using the example of creating recreational facilities at closed solid waste landfills.

Title: Revitalization of urban spaces with disturbed territories: methodological aspects of design
