Fingerring

View through Europeana Collections
FINGERRING Of silver. The skene thick, wide, widened upwards on the wading side and with the ends two-part and wedge-branched, the inside flat, the outside flack-tight. Between the ends of the rail a round flat disc with a run-duded edge. On the upper side in the relief: on the right a saint (the Holy Antonius af Padua), in front of him the Christ Child. On the outside of the rail in the middle master stamp. The diameter of the disc: 2 cm. Presumably German work from the end of the 15th century or something later, master with the initials I Z (possibly Jos Zwickel, master of Augsburg). Purchased to Wilhelmina von Hallwyl January 1922 at Aktiebolag H Bukowski’s Konsthandel, Stockholm. Earth finds from Riddarholmen, Stockholm. - Possibly stemming from one of the Jesuits received, in whose words just Antonius af Padua was a saint. It is true that at this time the Jesuits were in the former Gråmunkeklostern on Riddarholmen.
