A round brand of white plastic. In the middle a picture of a blue heart, with inspiration from the Sami sun symbol. Below is the text: Making Space Sápmi, in the colours red, green and yellow. On the back a needle made of metal, so you can stick it on a garment or fabric. Collected in the winter market in Jokkmokk 2015 for information about Sametingets project “Making Space Sápmi - A norm-breaking work for an inclusive Sápmi.” Staff from Sametinget informed at the Winter Market. In the context of the JiM project (The integration of the gender equality in government agencies), Sametinget runs a campaign called “Making Space Sápmi.” In 2013 and 2014, 18 agencies were entrusted with a special task by the government to work on gender mainstreaming; Gender mainstreaming in the Swedish agencies (JiM). From 2015, the mission is expanded. There are now 41 agencies that are to work actively with gender mainstreaming in all their activities. The aim is to develop the agencies' activities so that they even better contribute to achieving the gender policy objective. One of the authorities involved in the JiM project is Sametinget. The Sami Parliament has received specific funding for this work. The Sami Parliament has chosen to focus the work of equality primarily on two of the government’s objectives of gender equality: a balanced distribution of power and influence and economic equality. The development needs we defined in our action plan are: • We want to work more on changing attitudes, values and norms in Sami society. • We want to be better at incorporating the gender perspective in all decisions taken at Sami. • We want the role of women in society to be strengthened by their commitment to the Sami industries. Women should be encouraged to practise reindeer husbandry in the same way as men. • Vii wants to work to ensure that organisations and people seeking work and project grants actively work to increase gender equality. • We want to work for more men to attend courses in Sami and seek short-term study grants. Various kinds of activities are carried out in the period 2014-2018. These concern both the Sami staff and the Sami community. (source: www.sametinget.se 2015-02-09)
