Theater in Mumbai

This thesis focuses on the Commercial English Theater Industry in Mumbai and how the industry functions. For the purpose of this thesis, the term 'Commercial English Theater Industry' characterized as an industry that works for a profit, performs English renditions, tends to mainstream audiences and aims to develop into a large lucrative organization. This dissertation explores the nuances of Commercial English Theater Industries, as defined previously, in Mumbai comparing it to the ones in New York & Philadelphia. The main research question for my thesis is "What are the issues that are prevalent within the English Theater industry in Mumbai and, in turn, what methods and suggestions can be given so as to improve growth and sustainability within commercial theater in the city of Mumbai"? Moreover, this thesis aspires as well as associates the fresh and modest art house productions to the comprehensive and more immense productions that arrive within the Commercial English Theater Industry in Mumbai, and helps one comprehend the inconsistencies between the two, well beyond those issues of budget differences only. It will evaluate and identify the other causes that are responsible for their success and/or failure inside this Industry. Although theater is prevalent across metropolitan cities around the world, Commercial English Theater in Mumbai has not yet attained the summits that we observe in various other international metros, such as New York, Philadelphia, London and other such western cities.
