The Mariamässhaken. Exterior embroidery of gold thread, multicolored silk and originally freshwater pearls, partly executed in low relief. Swedish work, 1450 - 1460s. Mary with the Child Jesus centrally placed within a beam wreath with the moon under her feet. In the surrounding quadrangles, scenes depict Mary’s seven joys: The Annunciation, the Birth, the Adoration of the Holy Three King, the Women at the Empty Tomb, the Celestial Sphere of Christ, the Designations of the Spirit, and the Heavenly Sphere and the Coronation of Mary. Bottom an Angel. Background of embroidered golden rods and red velvet stitch.
