Josef Engelström’s collection of pictures was acquired by the Upplandsmuseet in 2011. The pictures reflect the lives and meetings of Joseph and his wife Nora in the places they lived.
Josef ärnström (1887-1926) was born in Hållen, Hållnäs parish, Uppland. Josef was a school teacher in Uppsala in 1908 and receives a post at Berge school, Timrå. There he meets the colleague and future wife Nora Selldin (1883-1979) born in Vivsta, Timå, who graduated at the seminar in Härnösand. In connection with the marriage of 1912, the relocation pass goes to Lapland where Josef has teacher posts in Kiruna and Tuolluvaara until 1918. The last years of his life, Josef works as a practice teacher at the Folk School Teachers' Seminar in Uppsala. When Josef dies at the age of 39, he leaves Nora and the four children Kalle (1913-1991), Rolf (1914-1997), Inga-Britt (1919-2004) and Ella (1923-2010).
