Jednym z najbardziej obiecujących uczniów profesora Przemysława Dąbkowskiego był Jan Kamiński. W 1925 roku profesorowi udało się zdobyć dla swojego protegowanego posadę na uniwersytecie w Lublinie. Kamiński nie zawiódł jego nadziei. W 1925 roku ogłosił serię znakomicie przyjętych studiów poświęconych zwłaszcza prawu cechowemu w przedrozbiorowej Rzeczpospolitej. Wybuch wojny zmusił go do opuszczenia Polski w 1939 roku. Po zakończeniu wojny przez jakiś czas miał nadzieję, że uda mu się wrócić do przerwanych aktywności naukowych.
