Wonder bead from my Grandma
View through Europeana Collections
My story begins when my Grandma gave me a wonder bead on my 4th birthday. My Grandma bought it at a jewellery shop in Tripoli. I have had it now for four years. I always keep it with me. In Libya, they call them sibhas.
Now I live in the Netherlands, the beads remind me of when I made the famous food of Libya with my Grandma. My delicate wonder bead has four threads: 2 white ones and 2 brown ones. It’s made from bright red, shiny beads.
In the future, I want to make wonder beads.
