Bead necklace

The technique for making the sought-after thousand-flower millefiori bead originated in Egypt. The African specimens however are of Venetian origin. To make these beads, glass tubes of different colors are bundled together in such a way that the cross-section shows a certain pattern. The tubes are joined together by heating, after which the whole is stretched. After cooling, the rod is cut into thin slices, which are then rolled around a (usually black) rod of glass, which forms the core of the later bead.
