REPRODUCTIVE BIOLOGY FEATURES OF FAGOPYRUM ESCULENTUM MOENCH IN THE REPUBLIC OF TATARSTAN

View through CrossRef
The task of research is the study of embryological characteristics and seed production of certain varieties of Fagopyrum esculentum Moench in a moderate continental climate of the Republic of Tatarstan. All kinds of violations of embryological processes were revealed at the studied varieties. The pollen fertility was averaged 80.0%. The high individual variability and intervarietal potential seed production and productivity factor were displayed, as well as their dependence on weather conditions. A low coefficient of efficiency was revealed. The authors proposed indirect methods for estimating the productivity index (according to the granulation size of inflorescences and to the economic factor), which let significantly to reduce the determination time of this parameter. The proposed methods can be used for the selection of high productive forms.
