HERMENEUTIKA NEGOSIATIF - KHALED ABOU EL FADL (Sebuah Gagasan Komparasi Ilmu Tafsir dan Hermeneutika)

This article examines the comparative study between interpretation and hermeneutic theory, which is considered by some Muslims to be two interpretive theories that cross or contradict each other, especially when applied in interpreting Al-Qur'an verses. Therefore, this study exists to find the similarity of the two in order to complement each other. To realize this, the qualitative method used in this study is based on descriptive literature study data. Then the data is processed and analyzed using critical studies. The findings show that, basically, there is a significant difference between the interpretation and hermeneutics of the terms from an ontological point of view. However, epistemologically both have similarities that can be exploited as the potential to perfect each other's limitations. That is why interpretation and hermeneutics possible to be integrated as a theory of interpretation through the interconnection approach. That effort appears to have been demonstrated by Khaled Abou El Fadl by offering the idea of negotiating-authoritative hermeneutics. The theory can be an alternative tool to strengthen the methodology of interpretation of the Qur'an so that it can work comprehensively and holistically.
