A twentieth century brown salt-glazed stoneware vase made and fired by Denise K. Wren at the Oxshott Pottery in 1966/67. The vase was thrown and squashed with additional height hand built and two small applied lugs. The surface is decorated with scratched markings, with wood ashes rubbed in before salt-glazing. The base is incised with the mark "D K W Oxshott". See full description., A twentieth century brown salt-glazed stoneware vase made and fired by Denise K. Wren at the Oxshott Pottery in 1966/67. The vase was thrown and squashed with additional hand built height. There are two small applied lugs 6mm below rim. It is decorated with scratched/incised markings, consisting of narrow lines running vertically down the length of the pot, with some criss-crossing. A scratched/incised geometric design of hatched triangles and horizontal and vertical lines decorates the foot of the vase to a height of 60mm. The outer surface of the pot is buff and dark brown in colour, wood ash having been rubbed in to the outer surface before salt-glazing. The base is incised with the mark "D K W Oxshott". There is a brown paper label on the side of the pot marked in black ink with the number "13"., Rosemary D. Wren Collection.
