The increased interest of the Armenian writers to the creative work of O. Wilde is not surprising. In the Armenian literature Vahan Teryan, who was close to V. Tekeyan by his aesthetic views, was also interested in the creative work of genius Wilde, in particular, his "Salome" tragedy, and presented his version of translation to the Armenian reader. This means that the two Armenian writers-symbolists felt spiritual kinship with Wilde's creative work in terms of philosophical and aesthetic views. In 1911, Vahan Tekeyan published an article about a major representative of the decadent literature with the laconic title “Oscar Wilde” in one of the issues of the “Vostan” magazine. According to V. Tekeyan, Oscar Wilde represented a fascinating blend of influences: Irish by origin, Italian by inclinations, Greek by mentality, and Parisian in his paradoxical style of thinking. He entered world literature through such renowned works as The Picture of Dorian Gray, Intentions, and Lady Windermere’s Fan. During the same period, Tekeyan translated Wilde’s tragedy Salome into Armenian, which was published in the fourth issue of Vostan magazine in 1911. Tekeyan turned to Wilde again in 1922. The translation of «Salome» by the Armenian translator and writer Mannik Perperyan became a reason this time. V. Tekeyan reviewed the stage art in a special article and gave it a high assessment.
