A Group of Male and Female Musicians Seated on a Striped Carpet

Seated on a blue and white striped carpet of an outdoor terrace are six musicians, three males three females. Four of the musicians play a tumbi or tambura, a type of string instrument, while two musicians play a tabla, a type of drum native to India. The male musicians wear a type of turban that was fashionable among Sikhs in the early 19th century. The female musicians are adorned with necklaces, earrings, nose rings, and head ornaments.
