Underground dyed A shōchikubai sh様 motif. Passover marks (hoshi P). Template damaged. Pieces of worm. The depictions of these three plants can already be found in the ink painting of the Song dynasty as the “Drei Die des Winters (jap: Saikan no san 'yū Die Die 様).” As well as in China, Japan’s 3-Series combination of shōchikubai wie 様 (Pinie, bamboo, plum) is lucky, so it is also used as a New Year’s ornament. This motif falls under the category “kisshō monyō Dieses 文様” (= pattern with auspicious sign): this includes the combination of crane and tortoise (tsuru kame Dieses 様), as well as phenix (hōō Mo), butterfly (chō) and auspicious clouds (zui 'un 様).
