Abstract
THE Soka Kyoiku Gakkai (Value-Creating Education Society) embraced goals that differed significantly from those that this same organization espoused after World War II, when it became Soka Gakkai. In his work, Soka kyoikugaku taikei (“A Theory of Value-Creating Pedagogy’’), Mak:iguchi emphasized a “system of learning based on methods to nurture capable people who will create value as befits a purpose in life”; or to be more precise, the society advocated the reform of educational policies and educational methods.
