Carlo Bo e Narratori spagnoli

Carlo Bo’s anthology, Narratori spagnoli, is conceived for high-brow readers and constitutes a meeting point for editors and publishers promoting a novel conception of literary circulation and marketability. Bo’s project reflects the new perception of Spain that circulated in Italy after the Civil war and the killing of Federico García Lorca, marking the definitive distancing of Italian intellectuals from fascism. Since the 1930s, the Italian literary field showed a preference for Spanish authors and texts in line with the cultural scenario of the time and prefiguring future change. Narratori spagnoli deviates from previous Spanish works published mainly to entertain readers and adopts a diachronic perspective that also includes unknown or forgotten authors, thereby laying the foundations for a more systematic cultural project.
