RAĐANJE AGITATORA: ZAVIČAJ U RANOJ POEZIJI I PROZI MILOVANA ĐILASA

In this paper, early literary works of Milovan Djilas have been analysed from the perspective of bio-bibliographic study, based on the methodology od new his- toricism and interested in identifying periods in author’s relationhip to his native and national identity. In the same time, the earliest period of Djilas’s literary creativity, ending with 1932, which immediately preceded with his political engagement, has been highlit- ed. Important changes in the author’s understanding of the social role of literature, and therefore the goal of his own literary works, have been determined. It has been shown that, along with the transformation of the concept of implicit reader in this poetry and prose, there has been also a transformation of the author’s attitude, which turned from trying to fit into the collective and presenting itself as its best part, to the task of managing the contents of the collective consciousness.
