Abstract From this point you can see the Hatchobaru geothermal power plant to the southeast (fig. 1 of Taguchi, 2001) and also steam from Kuju-iwo yama. The reinjection site is situated to the north of the power plant, whereas the production wells are distributed to the south. To the east, steaming ground known as the Komatsu-jigoku occurs along the Komasuike fault, which extends to Sujiyu town, making a V-shaped valley. A high-temperature zone (>270°C) trending northwest-southeast beneath the power plant (1,000 m below the surface) corresponds to the position of the Komasuike fault. Otake is located to the north, where you can recognize steam only from the power plant.
