Traditions and innovations in experimental space of Zurab Tsereteli’s art

Name of Zurab Tsereteli is firmly established in the history of modern art. His creative work could not be reduced to just one style, but is famous by his distinctive penmanship. It has synthesized antique and Byzantine heritage, Georgian art of Middle Ages and European modernism. He is People’s artist of the USSR, Georgian SSR and the Russian Federation, laureate of State prize and prize of Picasso UNESCO, Professor at several universities, active member of a number of foreign academies, full cavalier of the Order “For services to the Fatherland” and so on. Since 1997 Zurab Tsereteli is the President of the Russian Academy of Arts. Each year, artist’s solo exhibitions are held in Russia and abroad. In 2019, his artworks in different forms, genres and techniques were shown at the Palais des Nations in Geneva at the United Nations Office and presented Tsereteli’s multifaceted artistic palette.
