Role of Karna Lepa in the Management of Karna Shoola: A Case Series

Karna is one of the Panchajnanendriya and serves as the Adhisthana of Shrotrendriya. It is predominantly composed of Akasha Mahabhuta and plays a vital role in hearing and balance. Acharya Vagbhata describes 25 types of Karna Rogas, among which Karna Shoola (ear pain) is a common and prominent symptom, mainly associated with Vata vitiation. For its management, Acharyas have explained various Bahya and Abhyantra Chikitsa, including Karna Lepa. In this clinical observation, the Karna Lepa formulation mentioned in Arogyakalpadruma was selected to assess its efficacy in the symptomatic management of Karna Shoola in patients with varied etiologies.
