Fifth Ward/Delray: Two Times of Black Day by Alexander Nemerov

View through Artsy
When Greg Edwards made a small ink drawing called The Last Supper as a gift for his grandmother, he was guided by a single idea. It was 1970, he was twenty-two years old, living in Los Angeles, and thinking about where he grew up, the black Fifth Ward of Houston, Texas. His grandmother, Cora Anderson, still lived in a house there on Wayne Street she had bought in 1925, back when the Fifth Ward was mainly a Mexican neighborhood.
