Ceramic angels and vases for sale at the Dominican Fair.The Dominican Fair is the largest, oldest and most famous cultural and commercial event in Poland, organized since 1260, when the Dominican monastery in Gdańsk received from Pope Alexander IV the privilege to grant an indulgence on St. Dominik. A trade fair was connected with it. The tradition of organizing a fair where craftsmen and artists present and sell their products has survived until today. A religious memento of Dominican roots is a procession along the streets of the Main Town, which is always organized on the first or second Sunday in August.
