Mary as Queen of Angels (Mary crowned by two angels)

In 1518 Dürer designed the woodcut “Mary as Queen of Angels,” also known as “Maria von 15t.” In the center, the Mary accentuated by a ray nimbus, who holds the standing naked Jesus boy on her lap. In her right hand, she presents an apple and looks towards the viewer. She is surrounded by numerous angels. Two of these heavenly envoys, accompanied by winged angels, float over her with wings stretched wide to place the crown on her head. Large angels offer their gifts or play music, while at their feet they are great with other presences and instruments.
