Redemption

“Redemption” is a short story about sexual violence and how victims often live with ongoing trauma as a result of the experience. Devorah, a 16-year-old girl, falls pregnant because of a rape. She travels far away from her hometown to deal with the pregnancy, hoping not to be spotted because it would ruin her reputation and the relationship she has with her religious mother. However, she is discovered by someone, who eventually reveals her secret. Devorah is ultimately shunned by her church and her mother.
