The Role of Extension Workers in Program Pangan Lestari in Dolok Pardamean District Simalungun Regency

Abstract Sustainable Food Yard Activities (P2L) are carried out to support government initiatives aimed at addressing key areas for stunting intervention, priorizing food insecure vulnerable regions, and building resilience in food security areas, considering the significance of the of the Program Pangan Lestari (P2L), it requires the role of extension officers in the Program Pangan Lestari in Dolok Pardamean District, Simalungun Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of extension services among target farmer groups, identity supporting and inhibiting factors in the development of extension, establish the right strategy for the success of extension within the P2L program, recognize the role of government in supporting the P2L program and formulate appropriate policies for target farmer groups. Explaining the policies implemented that extension workers can foster farmers’ independence and confidence in their abilities. The research area was determined intentionally with potential consideration of the number of P2L. The analysis method to explain the role of extension workers in the P2L used Likert analysis. The results concluded that: increasing product continuity by adopting sustainable food yard technology, increasing the potential of land, collaborating or partnering with industry or government. The role of extension workers and the government is essential in implementging an aggressive growth policy, which is a growth oriented strategy.
