Queer Theory and Hosea

View through CrossRef
Abstract This queer reading of Hosea asks, “What are the possible impacts on trans persons when reading the destabilized gender and character of Gomer as an eshet zenunim in the book of Hosea?” Taking into consideration the physical reality of trans folx, it is possible to read this woman as a transsexual sex worker and thus reveal hidden violence while eliciting understanding and empathy for the trans community. The metaphor of the eshet zenunim reveals a triply marginalized transbody who is both rejected and acquired. Such a queer reading of the book of Hosea aims to shift feminist and theoretical perspectives, raising awareness of the violence experienced by the trans community.
