THE COGNITIVE POTENTIAL OF MODERN SYNTHETIC ART COVERED BY THE MEDIA: FROM CLASSICISM TO METAMODERNISM

Artistic cognition of the world proclaims an artistic image as the main specific form
of reflection and understanding of reality. Epistemologically, it is attractive because it is layered, multi-valued, and multi-interpretable. Comparing two artistic methods of cognition of the world – classicism and metamodernism, the author, based on the analysis of the ballet “Dreams of the Sleeping Beauty”, comes to the conclusion: the cognitive potential of modern synthetic art is formed to a lesser extent by elements of classicism, and to a greater extent by elements of metamodernism. However, the very precedent nature of the ballet performance, which refers at least twice to classical art, makes it also kind of transclassical. The metamodern meaning of this production is fully revealed precisely in the context of the well-known classical plot.
