Spring in Halland. Three Paintings in a Frame Sculpted by the Artist

View through Europeana Collections
Nils Kreuger, Karl Nordström and Richard Bergh formed the Varberg school in the 1890s, which represented a new style of landscape painting. This painting shows spring farming in the characteristic Halland countryside. Stylistically, it resembles works by artists such as Gauguin and van Gogh, for instance in the sharp contours of the newly ploughed furrows. The frame was also sculpted by the artist.
