A whalebone panel showing the Ascension. 12th century AD.The figure of Christ is shown rising into the sky with a dove on the right-hand side. Two angels are shown directly underneath Christ. On the bottom of the panel a group of disciples are shown with all of them looking upwards. One figure is standing pointing towards the figure of Christ. A hole is punched through each corner of the panel indicating that it was once attached to something else.
Culture: Medieval. Material: Whalebone. Accession no: CG 006.
