Tko su bili Mađaroni u hrvatskom političkom diskursu 19. stoljeća?

The paper deals with the term “Magyarons”, usually used in Croatian political discourse of the 19th century. Illyrians started to use it in the early 1840s as a pejorative term for their political opponents, members of the Croatian-Hungarian Party. Later, the term was also used for other Croatian pro-Hungarian political parties. The article explores the elements that defined the term in certain political circumstances and explains what mobilized its use. Also shows the extent of use of the term and the reactions to it of those who were labeled with it. All analyses are based on existing literature and published sources such as brochures or letters in which the term is mentioned and discussed.
