Regional 2010 - Cultural Landscape Network in the Cologne/Bonn region

The “Regionale” is a structural policy instrument of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is intended to draw out the qualities and characteristics of a region in order to provide new impulses for its future development. The word “Regionale” is made up of the words “region” and “biennale” and describes a programme that every two years offers a different region the opportunity to present itself. In 2010 the Regionale moved to the Cologne/Bonn region, building on the Regionale tradition that began in 2000 with the EXPO initiative in East Westphalia-Lippe. This was followed by the Euroga 2002plus on the middle Lower Rhine and on the Meuse, and the Regionale to the right and left of the Ems in Münsterland. In 2006 the Regionale visited the Bergisch city triangle of Remscheid, Solingen and Wuppertal. The stage for the Euregionale held in 2008 was the border region of Aachen with partners in Belgium and in the Netherlands. In 2013 the region of South-Westphalia will hold the Regionale, while the state has decided that the Regionale 2016 is to be in West Münsterland.
