Background
Entrepreneurial leadership among head nurses plays a vital role in modern nursing practice by fostering innovation, initiative, and adaptability. It supports the development of creative nursing behaviors that enhance patient care quality and improve healthcare outcomes.
Aim
The study aimed to examine the relation between head nurses’ entrepreneurship characteristics and work innovative behavior as perceived by staff nurses.
Design
A descriptive correlational design was utilized in this study.
Sample
A convenience sample (
n
=202) staff nurse.
Setting
This study was carried out at Abasiya fever Hospital, affiliated with the ministry of health.
Data collection tools
Three
tools were used: first tool was Personal characteristics and work-related data, second tool was Entrepreneurial leadership questionnaire, and the third tool was Work innovation questionnaire.
Results
The study results showed that a high level of entrepreneurial leadership characteristics among head nurses, with a mean percentage of (86.3%). Additionally, there was a high mean percentage for head nurses’ innovative work behavior (87.5%). finally, the findings revealed that there was a strong, significant, and positive correlation between head nurses’ entrepreneurial leadership characteristics and their innovative work behavior as perceived by staff nurses.
Conclusion
The study concluded that staff nurses perceived their head nurses with high entrepreneurial leadership characteristics and innovative work behavior. there was a strong, significant, and positive correlation between head nurses’ entrepreneurial leadership characteristics and their innovative work behavior as perceived by staff nurses.
Recommendations
Hospital managers should support the adoption of entrepreneurial leadership characteristics to achieve the organization’s objectives and ensure increase staff innovative behaviors. Educational programs for nurses’ innovative development should be planned by hospital management.
