Johanna Leintje Szobotka-Visser was een belangrijke cultuurbemiddelaar van de Hongaarse literatuur in Nederland. Zij liet als vertaler voor het eerst van zich horen in het interbellum, en vertaalde voornamelijk romans uit het Hongaars in het Nederlands, maar er verschenen ook vertaalde artikelen van haar hand. Szobotka-Visser was nauw verbonden met de zogenaamde kindertreinacties, die de aanleiding vormden voor haar verhuizing naar Hongarije.
